Ubisoft have officially announced that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game will be making a return to modern consoles later this year!
Originally released back in 2010 for the PS3 & Xbox 360, coinciding with the release of the film, the game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up where you can play as either Scott, Ramona, Kim or The Talent (....I meant Stephen Stills), as you are faced with 7 levels battling against Ramona’s evil exes & their associated allies. The game also features 4-player co-operative gameplay, allowing you and your friends to combine forces to take on the 7 Deadly Exes.
It was praised for its vivid comic-book, pixelated presentation style & its characters showing strong visual similarities to those used in the original graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. It also featured a great arrangement of arcade style music, performed by chip-tune rock band; Anamanaguchi.
Mysteriously, the game was delisted from online stores back at the end of 2014, making it impossible for people to acquire it unless if they already purchased it. As someone who still has his copy installed, it’s an action-packed side-scrolling gem that I never felt the need to go pee, due to boredom. I’m happy to see this game finally make its return for us to revisit & others to experience for themselves, especially those who missed out on the opportunity the first time round.
The re-released version will contain the base game & include both sets of DLC, which brings Knives Chau as a playable character and two games modes; Battle Royal & Dodge Ball. Grab yourself a Coke Zero & check out the announcement trailer below!
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: Complete Edition is scheduled for release in Q4 2020 & to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC & Google Stadia.
